OnGoing Combination Program

Our curriculum is designed to help you create pieces within many mediums while working with simple techniques which will expand your artistic knowledge and skill. As you learn more, the program follows your advancement and allows for you to work on slightly more challenging pieces every time.

Sketching: This is where precision, technique refinement, and shadowing are key to well balanced works of art.

Acrylics: It is the most basic and easy-to-learn paint medium, in this medium we teach color mixing and the basics of the color theory.

Chalk Pastels: Blending colors with your fingers will teach you shadows and color value.

Watercolors: A color wheel will be used to teach you how to mix colors in this medium and properly control the powerful paint with the water.

Ceramics/Pottery: Learning about hand-building, coiling, and throwing on the wheel.

After a few months in our program and the succession of all of the mediums, students will be able to choose one to two medias that they have liked and will have the chance to master it.

OnGoing Pottery and Ceramics Program

Our curriculum is designed to help you learn the basics of pottery and to excel from there. As you learn more, the program follows your advancement and allows for you to work on slightly more challenging pieces every time. This is included not only in hand-building but in wheel throwing as well.

Hand-building: A beginning, intermediate, and advanced skill that uses your most important tool, your hands. It is an ancient pottery-making technique which involves creating forms without the pottery wheel, only using your hands, fingers, and simple tools. Anything made on the pottery wheel can also be made in hand-building.

Wheel-throwing: Learning to work on a potters wheel and practicing the basics such as wedging, centering, lifting, and shaping round ceramic ware. Students will learn to start on the wheel on their own and will progress from an easier shape such as a bowl up to a vase.

Glazing: Painting your pottery with a special kind of paint called glaze. All students will glaze their pieces so that they may go into the kiln. With this part of the class we also teach the risk factor of pottery once things are fired and glazed. We call Pottery and Ceramics the Mystery Medium, as we know that shapes can warp and glazes may change after a firing.

After a few months in our program and the succession of the medium, students will be able to hone-in on a certain aspect of pottery and ceramics that they liked and will have the chance to master it.
